– Involuntary passage of urine.
– Most common in women.

 

Types of Urinary Incontinence

1- Stress incontinence: Weak pelvic floor.

– Increased  intraabdominal pressureÞUrine leak .

2- Urge incontinence: due to detrusor muscle overreaction.

3- Overflow incontinence : Due to chronic obstruction Þ chronic retention.

4- Total incontinence:

– Congenital.

– Acquired.

Investigations for Urinary Incontinence

1. MSU, urine C/S.

2. Urinary diary, pad test.

3. Uroflowmetry.

4. Cystometry.

5. Urethrocystoscopy.

 

Treatment for Urinary Incontinence

1.Treat the cause.

2. Conservative

– Pelvic floor exercise.

– Electrical stimulation.

– Urinary condom or pad.

– Intermittent self catheterization.

3. Medical:

– Anticholinergic drugs.

4. Surgery:

– To lift the bladder neck up ± Ý its resistance.

– Suspension.

– Sling operations.

– local injections.
